Join the Navarra Quartet and violist Francis Kefford for an evening of radiant chamber music, featuring three masterful string quintets that span the Classical and Romantic eras.

Mozart: String Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515
Composed in 1787, Mozart's C major Quintet is a luminous example of his mature chamber style. The expansive first movement unfolds with serene grandeur, while the slow movement offers a tender duet between violin and viola. The minuet dances with elegance, and the finale bursts forth with spirited vitality.

Brahms: String Quintet No. 1 in F major, Op. 88
Written in 1882 during a summer retreat in Bad Ischl, Brahms’s first string quintet is suffused with pastoral warmth and lyrical richness. The opening movement presents a noble theme, followed by a central movement that juxtaposes brooding introspection with playful interludes. The finale concludes the work with energetic exuberance.

Mendelssohn: String Quintet No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 87
Composed in 1845, Mendelssohn’s second quintet is marked by its vibrant energy and melodic invention. The first movement brims with youthful exuberance, while the scherzo offers a light, dance-like character. The slow movement provides lyrical depth, leading to a finale that combines spirited rhythms with expressive warmth.
