The Kleio Quartet presents a compelling journey through the string quartet repertoire, exploring the depth of human emotion and innovation across centuries.

Beethoven – String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95 "Serioso"
Compact, intense, and dramatically charged, Beethoven's "Serioso" is a tightly wound work of emotional urgency. Written during a time of personal and political turmoil, the quartet exemplifies Beethoven's middle-period style, balancing structural precision with raw, expressive power.

Webern – Langsamer Satz
Anton Webern’s Langsamer Satz offers a rare glimpse into the early Romantic voice of a composer more often associated with atonality. Written in 1905, this lush and lyrical single-movement work reflects the influence of Mahler and Wagner, filled with yearning and harmonic warmth.

Haydn – String Quartet in F major, Op. 50 No. 5 "The Dream"
Nicknamed "The Dream" for the ethereal quality of its slow movement (Adagio), this quartet exemplifies Haydn’s wit, elegance, and inventiveness. Part of the "Prussian" quartets, it showcases his masterful control of form and dialogue between voices.

Mendelssohn – String Quartet No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 44 No. 3
Radiant and refined, Mendelssohn’s fifth quartet is a spirited and lyrical work. Composed at the height of his maturity, it balances classical elegance with Romantic expressiveness, concluding the programme with energetic brilliance and intricate interplay.
