In a world where music serves as a bridge between souls, the Barbican Quartet emerges as a vibrant force, weaving their unique voices into the fabric of chamber music. Celebrated for their intimate and powerful performances, this dynamic ensemble has recently garnered accolades, including first prize at the 71st ARD International String Quartet Competition, solidifying their presence on the international stage.

The programme opens with Haydn’s String Quartet in A major, Op. 20 No. 6, showcasing the composer’s characteristic wit and innovation. Following this is Ligeti’s String Quartet No. 1, Métamorphoses nocturnes, which ventures into mesmerising explorations of texture and timbre. The concert culminates with Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, D. 810, Death and the Maiden, a profound work renowned for its emotional intensity and haunting themes.
